The Wombat Rally G3 is a clever compact cargo e-bike designed for families who want serious carrying capability without the length and bulk of a traditional longtail.

Updated for 2026, the Rally G3 now features the powerful Bafang M430 mid-drive motor with up to 120 Nm of torque, paired with a large 670Wh battery. Its compact 20-inch wheels keep the centre of gravity low, helping the bike feel stable and confidence-inspiring even when carrying passengers or cargo.

What really sets the Rally apart is its adaptability. The rear rack can be configured in long or short form – choose the extended rack to carry up to two compatible child seats, or switch to the smaller rack when you want the bike to be as compact as possible. Three Ways to Set Up Your Rally G3

One of our favourite things about the Rally isn't just the bike itself – it's how easily you can configure it around your family.

Rather than having one fixed passenger arrangement, Wombat offers three particularly useful packages: the Safety Rail Pack, Director's Pack and Passenger Pack.

Safety Rail Pack – For Younger Passengers

The Safety Rail Pack is the setup we'd look at for families carrying younger children who still benefit from being surrounded by a safety rail structure.

It adds the equipment needed to transform the back of the Rally into a more enclosed passenger area, while also adding useful front cargo capacity.

The Safety Rail Pack includes: front basket, basket liner, cargo net, wheel guards, footboards, buddy safety rails, short bench cushion and long bench cushion.

This is a great setup for the school run because the kids can sit within the rail structure while bags, lunchboxes and other gear can go into the front basket.

Director's Pack – A Great Transition for Growing Kids

The Director's Pack is a really clever option for a child who has outgrown the need for full safety rails but where you'd still like more support than a basic bench seat.

The Director's Chair provides a fixed cushioned backrest with wraparound armrests and safety bumper rails, while leaving the front open for easier entry and exit. Wombat then combines this with wheel guards, footboards and a hold-on bar.

It's a nice middle ground between the enclosed Safety Rail setup and the more open Passenger Pack.

The pack includes the front basket and liner, basket net, wheel guards, footboards, hold-on bar and bench cushion configuration.

Passenger Pack – For Older Kids & Passengers

Once your passengers are older and no longer need surrounding rails, the Passenger Pack gives the Rally a more open and flexible rear seating arrangement.

It uses two hold-on bars, two short bench cushions, wheel guards and footboards, along with a rear loop and mounting adapter. You also retain the useful front basket, liner and cargo net.

This setup is particularly good for older children who can comfortably climb on and off themselves and simply need a comfortable seat, somewhere secure to hold and proper foot support.

Why We Love the Rally G3 for Adelaide

For us, the biggest appeal of the Rally G3 is that you don't have to buy an enormous cargo bike to get genuine family-carrying capability.

The low 20-inch wheels and step-through frame make it approachable, while the 120 Nm Bafang mid-drive gives you plenty of assistance once the bike is loaded. The 4-piston brakes, cargo suspension fork and wide Schwalbe tyres also mean the important components have been selected around the demands of a cargo bike rather than simply adapting a normal commuter.

For school drop-offs around Brighton, riding down to Glenelg, heading to the shops or spending the day exploring Adelaide's bike paths, it's an extremely practical package.
